Saint Erasmus performed various miracles with the power of Christ, who acted in him. With those wonders, he gave sight to blind people, and he healed sick people from various diseases. There was also one nobleman and first-born of this city (Lurkidon), named Anastas, whose son was lying dead, and his body was carried for burying. This case was told to Holy Erasmus, to revive the boy and hand him over to his parents. Coming to his grave, the blessed Erasmus said:
“Anastas, if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, I will resurrect your son.”
There was a great crowd of people who attended the event of the expected astonishment. Then Anastas said:
“Can you resurrect my son?”
Saint Erasmus answered:
“Not I, but my Lord Jesus Christ, to whom I am a slave!”
Anastas said:
“If you bring my son back to life, I will believe with both my house and the whole nation.”
To this holy Erasmus added:
“Take the dead out of the ark!”
Then he politely ordered his mother and his father to hold him, and kneeling, over the body he spoke with a loud voice:
“Child, resurect”
The child has risen and he shouted loudly:
“Great is the God of Christians”
And, I turned to my father, said:
“Father, we’ve been wrong before.” The gods we have respected were nothing, I saw them in the hell as they did not have peace from agony. “The God of this holy Erasmus is great.”
That’s how Anastas and his whole house believed and about 40 thousand people were baptized.
