We are godfathers of Ice Blazezki from Bitola. He told me the next case, Klime Niceski from Ohrid said the following on February 12, 2015.
Ice was a partisan. During the clearing of the remains of the Ballistas in the late autumn of 1944, he was in charge as a commander of the partisan unit that operated in the Ohrid-Struga area.
At the end of November 1944, his unit from Ohrid headed for Struga. Under the monastery “St. Erasmus” there was a barefoot child of around 9 years. They took the child with them. In Struga he was clothed. They came to Velesta village. They arranged the unit for sheltering in the houses, and the management was placed in the house of the headman of the village. With them was the child, because there was no one anywhere.
After laying down on the sedge beds (rogozines), from fatigue, they quickly fall asleep. When the headman thought that the partisans were in a deep sleep, he told the women in Albanian:
– Now they are all asleep, throw the bombs and flee!
The child, who slept to Ice, pushed him and quietly told him what the headman said. Immediately the Partisans woke up. They’ve searched the men and women in the house, and what to see: they were full of weapons and ammunition.
The goodness done by the child saved them. But when they searched for the barefoot child found under “St. Erasmus” who understood what the old Albanian headman said… there was no one anywhere. They figured out that it was not a child, but St. Erasmus himself.
Ice Blazeski at every visit to Ohrid regularly went to the monastery “St. Erasmus” to light a candle, to thank St Erasmus, who saved the Partisans from certain death in November 1944.
